Rising Number of STD Infections a Substantial Worry

Health Department Authorities are worried over the latest reports that suggest an increase in the volume of STD infections currently being reported. While the increase may not appear to be worrying to some, any escalation in the number of reported cases can be associated with an increase in unreported infections.

While a leading concern was once a lack of easily available STD testing, that is no longer the case with the escalating number of ways that men and women can obtain STD testing in Los Angeles. Both the state and local health departments have attempted to make inexpensive testing available to people of all income levels, and confidential testing companies have also been a good source for confidential STD testing services.

“There seems to be a preconception that if you’re not demonstrating any signs and symptoms, then you are not infected.” stated one area official. “However, any doctor will tell you that most STDs display virtually no symptoms, even though the danger of spreading is just the same.” The only way to curtail this rapid growth is for all at risk individuals to receive regular STD testing for all major infections.

If you feel you are at risk, or simply just don’t know, the best measure is to contact your county health department or explore on the internet for “STD testing services” in order to find a local medical laboratory that can evaluate your level of risk.
